How do I sell a commission?

Generate income and create amazing work for your clients with commissions! 

Getting Started

To create a commission listing:

  • Go to your Profile and click Shop on the top bar of your Profile.
  • Scroll to the Commissions section of your shop and click "Create a Commission" (or "Create a new commission" if you've previously offered commissions).
  • Fill out the areas, agree to the Terms of Service, and click "Create!"
To manage your commission:

  • Click the lock button to temporarily close (or reopen!) your commissions.
  • Click the trashcan button to delete your commission.
  • Be careful! You will not be able to restore a deleted commission.
  • Click the pencil icon to edit your commission.


Promoting Your Commissions

Once you’ve created your commission, post on DeviantArt and social media channels about your offerings! If you’re a Core Member, your art sales will also be shared in various places across the network via promotional banners.

Commissions Earnings and Fees

Commissions offer income and the flexibility to choose your projects. Once a buyer has requested a commission, you'll receive a notification asking if you'd like to accept or decline. The buyer will not be charged until you accept the commission. 

Once you've accepted a commission request, the earnings will be deposited into your earnings account. Earnings will be held in clearing for 7 days to permit a review of the transaction. 

After the 7 day period, when approved, you can withdraw your earnings via PayPal, Stripe, BitPay, or DeviantArt Points.

You will not receive a reminder from the system to complete the commission that you accepted. It will be up to you to complete it and communicate with the buyer in a timely manner or be subject to a refund.
