How do I block users from contacting me on DeviantArt?

Blocking from the User's Profile page

If you're on the profile page of the user you want to block:
  • Click the "..." menu on the right side of their profile page.
  • Click "Block User."
  • Confirm that you'd like to block them with the pop-up, or click cancel.

Users will not be notified if they have been blocked.
If you unblock someone, you will not be able to block them again for 48 hours. 

Blocking from the Deviation page

When you come across a deviation you don't wish to see anymore: 
  • Click the "..." menu below the deviation.
  • Click the Report button. 
  •  Select "I just don't want to see this." 
  • That single deviation will be hidden from you without notifying the owner. 
  • You will then be presented with the option to Block that user.
  • You can also click "Unhide Deviation" if you've changed your mind.

Blocking from the Settings page

Visit the "Personal > General" section of your Settings page.
  • Scroll down to the "Blocked Users" section. 
  • Enter the username of each person you wish to block into the field provided. Do not include the username status symbol.

What does blocking someone do?

  • Prevents communication between the person blocked and the person blocking.
    • Prevents comments, notes, or replies being sent.
    • No notifications will be received.
    • Notes or chat cannot be sent between blocker and blocked. 
  • The blocker will not see any of the blocked deviant's deviations as they browse DeviantArt (and vice-versa.)
  • Favouriting of deviations will also be prevented, as well as attempts to add one another to one's watch. 
  • Blocking will remove both parties from each other's watch if applicable.
If you feel that the situation is serious, please notify the Help Desk, so a staff member can review the situation and take whatever action is deemed necessary. Please note that if you unblock someone to continue communicating with them, you are unable to re-add them to your block list for 48 hours. 

What is block evasion?

Using alternate accounts to contact people who have blocked you on another account could be considered deliberate harassment and could result in all your DeviantArt accounts being suspended or permanently banned.

Blocked Users List

You can find your blocked users in your settings.
  • Hover over your avatar in the navigation bar and select "Account Settings" from the drop-down menu.
  • Select “General" on the menu, under "Personal."
  • Scroll to the “Blocked Users" section to make your changes.
  • In this section, you can manage your blocked users listing. You can block up to 500 users from your user page. 
  • To unblock a blocked user, remove them from your list and click "Save."
