While members can report posts they believe are in violation of DeviantArt policy, these posts may not actually require any administrative action, so the notification can be ignored if you believe it is not a violation of our policies. 

The notification will be reviewed by our team and will be closed without action and with no consequence to your profile if it does not require a Mature Tag or violate our policies.

Some deviants are unclear on the policy, and the notification genuinely helps them catch a work and properly label it before it needs to be reviewed by staff. Read more about the mature policy and the policies around more sexualized themes.  

Some artists may utilize various means of self-censorship, through the use of cropping, blurring, or otherwise obscuring or covering more explicit or sensitive portions of their work prior to submitting. In these instances, a legitimate attempt to cover the portions in question must be made, as there can be times that the effort is not sufficient enough to comply with current DeviantArt policies. 

In those cases, the DeviantArt staff reserves the right to take any action which might be appropriate and necessary, which can include marking an untagged work as mature or which may involve the removal of the content.
