How do Profile Skins and Custom Sections work?
Core Members can personalize their Profile with extra features to perfect their style.
Profile Skins
Profile Skins change the look and feel of your profile to give the whole page a stylish appearance.
To add a Profile Skin, click the Profile Skins link on the top bar of your profile. You’ll see a variety of premade options available for use, or you can click the + to upload your own image.
Creating Your Own Profile Skin
If you upload an image, you’ll be prompted to select between dark and light theme, as well as whether your uploaded image should be tiled or static.
For darker background images, it's best to choose the dark theme (and vice versa) so the text on your profile is readable. If you select static for your uploaded image, be sure your image is 1920x1080 resolution at minimum with a 16:9 aspect ratio, so it displays clearly for viewers on various devices.
Custom Sections
Custom Sections can be customized to suit deviants’ wants or needs, and up to nine can be added to a profile at once: three in the top bar of the profile, three in the left column, and three in the right column.
To add a Custom Section:
- Hover between sections on your Profile to find and click an “Add Section” button where you want to add your Custom Section.
- Select the Custom Section from the choices that appear.
- If you are adding a Custom Section to the top bar of your profile, you can select one, two, or three separate sections, and you can choose between the sections being fixed width or stretched across the full width of your profile.
- Once you select Custom Section, you’ll be prompted to choose a template for the section, or you can select Empty Canvas to fully customize it yourself.
Personalizing Your Custom Sections
There are a variety of tools you can use to make your Custom Sections your own. When editing the content of a Custom Section, the Editor toolbar appears at the bottom and can be used to add deviations, gifs, emoji and emoticons, videos, and more. You can also change the background color of the Custom Section from this toolbar.
