How do I change my profile cover image?

All profiles come with a default cover image of the DeviantArt logo in a tessellated pattern.

To change the cover image on your profile:

  • Visit your profile, hover over the cover image area, and click “Add Cover Image.” (This will say “Edit Cover Image” if you’ve previously changed your cover image.)
  • You can choose to upload a file, pick a file from your Sta.sh, or select a deviation in your Gallery.
  • Once you’ve selected a file, click “Select” and you’ll be prompted to drag your image to position it how you want on your profile.
  • Click “Done” to save your changes.

If you want to remove your cover image later, you can click the trash can icon that appears when you hover over your cover image.

Cover Image Tips and Guidelines

  • It’s recommended you use an image that is at least 1600 pixels by 800 pixels and 1920x1080 resolution to ensure your cover image displays clearly on most devices.
  • Avoid putting crucial elements at the top and bottom of your cover photo, as parts may be cut off depending on the viewer’s screen.
  • Try not to add too much text to your cover image. If your cover image has text, make sure the font sizes are large enough to be read when scaled down to smaller resolutions, such as on a phone screen.

If you use an existing deviation as your cover image and it appears blurry, go to the deviation you used, edit the deviation, change the “Size” setting to “Original,” and save the change. This will ensure the largest version of the image is used for your cover image.

Please note: All images used for cover images need to abide by the relevant policies.
