How do I resell an Exclusive I’ve bought?

When an artist sells an Exclusive on DeviantArt, they can choose to allow buyers to resell it later. If the Exclusive’s original creator has enabled resales, then you can sell it later to transfer ownership to someone else.

Resale Basics

  • Resales must be done via the original deviation posted by the original artist.
    • No alternative resale method is permitted. You may not upload a copy of your purchase and offer it for sale.
  • When you resell an Exclusive, the files and ownership will be automatically transferred to the buyer.

To resell an Exclusive you purchased:

  1. Visit the deviation page of the Exclusive you want to resell and click the “Offer for Sale” button.
  2. Set the options you want for your resale:
    1. By default, Exclusives are set to both sell at a fixed price and accept offers. You can change this so that you are only selling at a fixed price or accepting offers, if you prefer.
    2. When selling at a fixed price, enter the price you want for the Exclusive. The first person to buy becomes the new owner.
    3. When accepting offers, select a minimum price, sale duration, and when the sale duration should start (either immediately when you finish listing or once the first offer is made). At any point during the sale (or up to 24 hours after the end of your selected sale period), you can choose an offer you like.
      1. Exclusives whose sale duration begins once the first offer is made will remain open to offers for up to 12 months. Once an offer is made on the Exclusive, the period for accepting offers will end 24 or 48 hours later, based on your sale duration choice.

Earnings and Fees

When an Exclusive is resold, the original artist will receive a royalty fee of 10% of the final sale price. The person who resells the Exclusive will receive 90% of the final sale price. (Standard platform and processing fees apply.)

Royalties are automatically paid to the original artist with no additional work required from the reseller. If you resell an Exclusive, you do not need to transfer any payment to the original artist.
