How do I submit a journal?

Once you join DeviantArt and verify your account, you can upload and publish to the community. The Submit menu at the top right of the interface provides links to submit deviations, status updates, journals, literature, and Subscriptions, as well as a link to create AI art with DreamUp.

To submit a journal, hover over the Submit button and select the Journal option in the menu. This will bring up DeviantArt’s text editor.

Add a title and then write your journal! The editor allows for many rich-text formatting options, such as adding titles, bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, text color, anchors, bulleted lists, and more.

Additionally, emotes, GIFs, deviations, galleries, and videos can also be incorporated into a journal. Click the plus button on the far left to add media or a line-break divider.

You can also click "Add Cover" to bring a creative look to the top of your journal. Be sure to read up on applicable policies around what you can use as your cover image.

After you’ve got everything set the way you want, you can click Submit to make your journal public immediately, or you can optionally choose "Save as Draft" and keep the file in your drafts for a later date.

You'll see a counter on all journals that estimates the length of time it takes to read a post! Watch it go up or down as you add thoughts or make them more concise.
