What happens when my account is suspended?
When you sign up for DeviantArt, you’re joining a community of vibrant creatives, each with their own thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Following the policies and guidelines we’ve created is one way to help nurture the community, but it’s the easiest way to ensure your account is in good standing. Breaking the policies will result in warnings, suspensions, and even an indefinite suspension.
Reasons your account can be suspended:
- Breaking DeviantArt policies.
- Engaging in excessively abusive or disruptive community activity.
- Repeatedly demonstrating problematic behavior over time.
What happens when your account is suspended:
- Your main profile page will be removed from public view.
- You will receive notification of the termination of your account.
- Any action to terminate your account may also be combined with other simultaneous actions such as:
- The removal of your DeviantArt gallery.
- Removing certain posts which you have made.
- Hiding all of your community activity among other things.
- Administrative suspensions can be set for a variable period of time, with typical durations lasting:
- 24 hours
- 1 week
- 2 weeks
- 30 days or 1 month
- Indefinitely
- You cannot post to DeviantArt or interact with the community.
- You’ll have access to the basic tools necessary to control your profile, gallery, and contact DeviantArt Customer Service.
Suspensions form part of the permanent record associated with your profile. If you are subject to further disciplinary action, previously recorded suspension(s) will be factored in. This may lead to a longer suspension or, in the case of repeat offenders, result in any new suspension being escalated to an indefinite suspension instead.
Account suspension targets the user
Contact DeviantArt immediately to address your account suspension—do not create or access another DeviantArt profile.
Using or creating another DeviantArt profile after you are suspended may result in these accounts also being terminated.
Accessing DeviantArt through alternate accounts after having a profile closed by our staff will affect the possibility of you being allowed to rejoin the DeviantArt community.
Appealing your ban:
- Contact DeviantArt Customer Support directly with questions or concerns regarding your suspension.
- We evaluate every appeal but do not guarantee a reversal of your suspension.
- In many—but not all—cases, someone with an indefinite suspension can be granted a second opportunity to rejoin the DeviantArt community on a current or new profile.
- If your appeal is granted, your previous account termination remains on the record associated with your active profile.
- Submitting a ticket for a ban appeal or review does not guarantee your suspension will be shortened or reversed.
After successfully appealing:
Any problematic behavior which prompts administrative action on your account after your appeal can result in an immediate indefinite suspension, and you won’t be able to return again.
