How do I sell my art as Merch?
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An image deviation that’s large enough for the required print size (see below)
- The rights to sell the artwork
Step 1: Choose an eligible deviation
In Studio
Go to Published and choose one or several deviations that you’d like to convert into Merch listings:
- If you choose one deviation, click Sell.
- If you choose several deviations, click Sell Selected.
On the deviation page
For an individual deviation, you can also click Sell Deviation on its page.
When submitting a deviation
Click Submit > Deviation and upload an image.
Note: Deviations that have been sold as Exclusives cannot be converted into Merch.
Step 2: Choose to "Sell as Merch"
If you don’t see the option to Sell as Merch, the deviation may not be eligible.
You can use the deviation’s main image or upload a new high-resolution file (150-300 DPI, at least 1000 x 1000 px). The higher the resolution, the better the quality of the print.
If you upload a new high-resolution file, it will not replace the deviation image. It will be used for the Merch listing only.

Step 3: Choose front or back placement
You choose where your deviation should be printed on the T-shirt. Once selected, the placement stays locked in for a clean, consistent print every time.
Step 4: Set your markup
A markup is an amount added to the production cost. The larger this amount, the more you earn. You’ll see your earnings when setting your markup.
The buyer sees a price made up of the production cost, your markup, and shipping. So you can set your markup according to your audience and market value.
Step 5: Confirm you own the rights
Before publishing your T-shirt listing, you need to check the box confirming that you own the rights to sell the artwork as a physical product for commercial purposes.
Review DeviantArt’s applicable Merch policies.
Step 6: Publish
Click List for Sale.
If you’re uploading a new deviation, then click Submit.
Your T-shirt listings appear in your profile’s Shop and in DeviantArt’s main Shop, which makes it easy for buyers to discover and order wearable versions of your art.
Shipping costs and time
Shipping costs and any applicable fees vary by delivery country.
The estimated delivery time begins once your order has been confirmed by the distributor. It’s an estimate only, since customs processing, carrier delays, and other factors may affect the final delivery date.
If you’re shipping orders outside the US, you may have to pay customs duties, taxes, or import fees. These charges are not related to DeviantArt and vary depending on the destination country, order value, and local import rules.
