How do I link to other deviants, deviations, or pages?

Simply pasting a URL on DeviantArt is a quick way to link to another area of DeviantArt or the Internet, but there are a variety of other ways to customize your links.

Linking Usernames

Use the "@" symbol to pull up usernames! Just type "@" and type in the username, or look through the list!

Tagging a user will notify them in their inbox.

Linking Avatars

Click on the emoji icon on the bottom of the text box to search through avatars!
Doing this will notify the user that you have linked to them.

Linking Deviations

Simply pasting a URL to a deviation will insert a thumbnail of that deviation in your journal, comments, and other places.
You can also click the picture icon to add a deviation from your gallery, collections, or from DeviantArt. Once you click this, you'll be able to browse or search for the images you'd like!
Or click the picture stack icon to add images from a whole gallery! You'll be able to select and add multiple images to your comments with this option.

Sharing Deviations in Chat

Sharing deviations with others in Chat is easy! Just drag and drop the deviation you'd like into the chat window while you're browsing! It will post automatically.
Create a link by highlighting the text you want to link to. Click the link icon to add your destination!
DeviantArt History!
Before we had a way to include Deviation thumbs in comments, users uploaded avatars into accounts called "plz" accounts, as in "Please make this into an emoticon, DeviantArt!"

By creating an account ending in "plz," deviants had a way to link images within comments while using an emoticon they made themselves, rather than our selection.

With Sta.sh and an easier emoticon dictionary, it's now a lot easier to punctuate text with an appropriate image, but if you see a strange account with no submissions ending in "plz," that's why!
