How do I add or remove image information on my photo deviations?

When submitting photos or image files to DeviantArt, additional information will sometimes display beneath the deviation description, including image size, make, model, shutter speed, aperture, or date the photo was taken.

This information, known as Exif data, is automatically created and linked to image files by the device used to capture or create the image. Generally, this applies to photography and is done by a photographer’s camera, but in some instances it can happen to other image files as well.

To remove Exif data from a deviation:

You’ll need to strip the data from your image before uploading it to DeviantArt, as DeviantArt does not offer a way to remove it from images.

However, you can remove Exif data in a variety of ways on your own, including copying the image into a new file, or using the “Save For Web” option in Adobe Photoshop, for example.

To add Exif data to a deviation:

There is no way to manually add Exif data to a deviation, but you can take steps to ensure your photos contain Exif data, if you want that information tracked and included.

Check your camera to see if it supports Exif data, and that it’s set to save it when you take photos. From there, make sure you’re not removing said data when editing your images, and that your image isn’t saved as a .PNG file.

If you have followed those steps and the Exif data still doesn’t display on the deviation page, you can instead enter the information manually in your deviation description.
