What is beta testing and how can I become a beta tester?

DeviantArt’s beta testing program allows deviants to test new features—as well as updates or gradual changes to existing features—and provide feedback for the DeviantArt team before these features are released sitewide. Because of this, beta testers are among the first to see features introduced to DeviantArt.

When there’s an open beta test, beta testers will receive a notification providing details about the feature being tested, the specific things they are being asked to test, and how to give feedback. This feedback, shared through comments, bug reports, and user engagement metrics, can help shape and improve features for the community at large.

Anyone on DeviantArt can take part in the beta testing program. To opt-in to the beta testing program, simply add the beta testing journal to your favourites. If you decide you want to opt-out of the beta testing program in the future, simply remove the journal from your favourites.

Please note: Opting in or out is not an instant change, and it may take up to 24 hours after the journal is added to (or removed from) your favourites for your beta tester status to change. There won’t always be an open test to take part in, but once you opt in, you will be notified the next time a beta testing period occurs.
