What do the Contract Address, Blockchain, and Token ID details mean on deviation pages?
DeviantArt is committed to ensuring that the proper creators are credited, and that need is even more necessary in the fast-moving realm of Web3 than it was in Web2.
To be clear, this NFT was not minted on DeviantArt. It exists as an offsite entity, and the additional details on the deviation page exist to ensure that the rightful creator is attached to the legitimate NFT, providing further authentication for our artists. Similar to how EXIF data displays on the deviation page of photographs, these details can be optionally added to give further context about the piece.
In 2021, we launched DeviantArt Protect, which works to safeguard and quick-notify artists whose works have appeared elsewhere on the web. In taking steps to usher in the future of art protection on Web3, DeviantArt Protect is now offering a way for creators to claim they did put their art on chain, a step in verifying that the deviation and the NFT are indeed the same.
If the additional details of Contract Address, Blockchain, and Token ID appear on the deviation page, it means the artist has chosen to “link” their creation from its position on the blockchain to its location on DeviantArt.
In addition we include an outside link for Deviants and collectors to purchase the NFT. To be clear, this NFT was not minted on DeviantArt. It exists as an offsite entity, and the additional details on the deviation page exist to ensure that the rightful creator is attached to the legitimate NFT, providing further authentication for our artists.
This verification underlines DeviantArt’s commitment to serving, supporting, and securing our artists and their creations, into the realm of Web3 and beyond.

How do I add this information on my deviation page?
Currently, this optional box of additional identifying information is available for all DeviantArt users who have received a notification or email that a similar image has been found on an NFT marketplace. Such a user can confirm it's truly theirs by clicking “I minted this” and follow the steps listed.
Upon completion, the deviation’s authenticity will automatically appear, officially stated, on the deviation page itself. Every NFT is uniquely identified by specifying a specific blockchain, a specific contract on that blockchain, and a token id defined by that contract.
What is a Blockchain?
A blockchain is an unchangeable ledger that assists in the recording of transactions and tracking assets, like NFTs.
What is a Contract Address and a Token ID?
A contract address is a string of characters that identify a specific contract on the blockchain. A Token ID identifies a single NFT in the contract. This combination of metadata helps you find more information about the artwork on Web3.
