What are llama badges?
If you've been on DeviantArt for any amount of time, you'll know how seriously we take our llamas! Our llama badges were launched in 2010, and we're not quite sure how many llamas have been exchanged, but it's probably close to billions by now!
Each llama badge given is a little token of community spirit that makes someone's day a little brighter. If you're ready to jump in and start sharing love with llamas, this guide will help you on your journey.
Give a llama badge
From the Notification Center:
Llamas have their own dedicated section!
Selecting the notification from the menu will show you:
- All the llama notifications you have received!
- What level llama you are on.
- How far you are from the next level.
- How many llamas you have awarded to other users.

To give a llama badge:
- Open the stack to see the notification.
- Click "Give Llama."
- You can also thank a user for giving a llama, give them one back, or leave a comment on their profile page!
From the user's profile:
- Click the present icon.
- Select "Give a llama badge."
If you've already given them a llama badge, this will appear greyed out and not selectable.
From the Badge section on About page:
- Navigate to the user's profile.
- The user must have the Badges section enabled.
- Click the About page.
- Click "Badges."
- Click the "Give a Llama Badge" button.
- This button won't show if you've already given a llama to this user, but you'll get a pop-up if you attempt to give again saying you've done it already.
You can only give one llama to each user, but you can give llamas to as many people as you want!
View and manage your llamas
Viewing llama badges:
If you want to see if someone has a llama or how many they have:
- Visit their About section from their profile.
- If they have the Badges section installed, click the link in the sidebar to see all of their badges, including the llama badge.
Clicking the llama badge on that page will open a modal that includes statistics, levels they've reached, recent badge activity for llamas they have received, and the ability to purchase accessories like sunglasses or a bow tie with points.

If you blocked someone (or if you're blocked), you will not be able to exchange llamas.
Some third-party browser scripts/extensions exist that let users give badges on non-official sections of DeviantArt (places not listed above). These are not officially supported and may cause issues with your DeviantArt experience, so we recommend against using them.
