Social Conflicts and Self Moderation

DeviantArt is proud to host a huge and vibrant community of passionate creatives with varying backgrounds and opinions. It's inevitable that heated discussions, arguments, and conflicts will arise, and we want to help you navigate them.

Before contacting administration for these sorts of situations, we ask that you practice Stop, Block, and Ignore.
  • Stop - Before the situations gets out of hand, stop and evaluate the situation. If the conversation is getting too heated, stop and take a breath—don't continue the argument.

  • Block - If it becomes too much, and you find yourself in a situation where the other person is continuing to contact you, add them to your block list. Access it in your general settings or read more about the different ways to block someone.
  • Ignore - After blocking a user, the worst thing you can do is visit their page, visit their gallery, or revisit the conversation. We encourage you take a moment to do something positive for the community, whether it's commenting on a new deviant's art or starting a collection of your favourite deviations.

The Block Tool
  • Prevents communication between the person blocked and the person blocking.
    • Prevents comments, notes, or replies being sent.
    • No notifications will be received.
    • Favourites and watches between will be prevented.
    • Existing favourites and watches between the blocked person and person blocking will be canceled and removed.

  • You can block a maximum of 500 usernames.
  • Blocked users will not receive a notification they've been blocked.
  • Users will not receive a notification when they've been unblocked.
  • After unblocking a user, there is a 48-hour delay before you can add them to your blocked list again. Unblock wisely.

The Comment Deleting Tool
  • You can delete your own comments or unwanted comments left on your profile and related areas.
  • Click the "..." icon in the comment box you'd like to delete.
  • Select "Delete Comment."
