How do I report abuse?
DeviantArt is proud to host a huge and vibrant community of passionate creatives with varying backgrounds and opinions. It's inevitable that heated discussions, arguments, and conflicts will arise, and we want to help you navigate them.
All DeviantArt profiles are equipped with self-moderation tools; you can learn more in our article Social Conflicts and Self Moderation. Members should try to resolve their issue using these tools before reporting a profile.
If the social conflict you are experiencing escalates, or is beyond what the self-moderation tools can address, report the profile so that your situation can be reviewed and evaluated. When necessary, our moderation staff can intervene and assist you by taking appropriate action.
In order for a situation to be properly reviewed and investigated, only the person being directly affected should report the profile.
We know many members want to help their friends—or even strangers—when they see what might be considered unacceptable behavior. Please don’t report a situation on behalf of someone else, but encourage the person being affected to make use of their self-moderation tools and to report the profile if they believe that they need assistance.
If you need to report abusive behavior, you can assist our staff in the evaluation process by making certain your initial report contains some essential information which we will outline below.
Reporting Abuse & Guidelines
- Provide a brief explanation of the situation affecting you.
- State whether or not you have attempted to use the self-moderation tools to address the situation.
- The reporting tool is unable to accept screenshots.
- Provide links to the specific public comments or replies which should be reviewed by our moderation staff.
- To link directly to a comment, right-click on the timestamp and click Copy Link Location (or Copy Shortcut).
- If your situation involves private notes, include this in the report and confirm you labeled the notes in question for moderation staff to review.
- When viewing a note, you’ll see a button labeled "Mark As..." in the lower right corner.
- Press the button to open a sub-menu.
- At the bottom of the list will be the option to mark the note as "spam."
- Using this button will move the note into a special administrative area where our staff will be able to review it.
Avoid opening multiple customer service tickets concerning the same issue.
If new information becomes available on a particular profile requiring you to file a second report, please include all relevant information from your first report in your new one. Opening multiple reports may introduce additional waiting time before the situation can be evaluated.
