How do I customize and manage my Watch?

Adding fellow deviants to your watch allows you to have journals, deviations, and more delivered right to you!

Adding users to your Watch

Add users to your Watch by clicking the "Watch" button on a deviant's profile page or from one of their deviation pages.

You can unwatch a user quickly by clicking "Watching." This will revert the button back to "Watch," so you can tell that you're no longer following that person.

You can also add users to your Watch through your manage page!

Managing your Watch

Managing through the Deviants You Watch page:
Customizing your watch will affect both your Watch and DYW feed.

Unwatch a user directly from the DYW feed:
  • Select the user from the carousel at the top.
  • Click the "Watching" button on the right of the user's feed.
Managing through watching administration page:
You can manage your Watch by clicking here. When the page loads, you will see several checkboxes with different functions:

  • Friends - Checking this box places the corresponding deviant or deviants on your friends list.
  • Deviations - Checking this box will notify you via your message center of all deviations submitted or edited by that particular deviant or deviants.
  • Journals - Checking this box will notify you via your message center of all journals and polls that particular deviant(s) creates.
  • Forum Threads - Checking this box will notify you via your message center of all forum threads that particular deviant(s) creates.
  • Miscellaneous - Checking this box will notify you when a user changes their username and other misc messages.
  • Scraps - Checking this box will notify you via your message center of all scraps submitted by that particular deviant or deviants. (By default, this is unchecked for everyone.)
  • Remove - Clicking this button will remove the corresponding deviant from your watch.

Deviant Lists

The Deviant Lists section allows you to separate your watch list into separate sections or lists!

For instance, if you had 12 people on your Friends List where 6 were photographers, and 6 were poets, you could create two Deviant Lists—one for photography and one for poetry—and then move each member to their respective list.

This would then allow you to send the same note to all the members in that Deviant List. If you want to remove the list at any point, simply click the remove link next to the Deviant List's name on the right hand side. Note that removing the list will not remove the deviants in that list from your watch; only the list will disappear.

The following explains in more detail how to create Deviant Lists and add deviants to them. Note that the following assumes you are viewing the "Manage My Friends" page.

  • Create a Deviant List - Type your desired list name in the field provided and click the "Add" button.
  • Deviant Lists - Once you have added a list its name will appear here, with a "Remove" button to the right of it.
  • Add a Deviant - Type the deviants name and using the drop down box underneath it select which Deviant List you want to place that deviant in. Once you have done that, click submit.

Things to note

  • Your watchers will not be notified of minor deviation edits. However, if you upload a new image file you will be presented with the option to notify your watchers of this change or not.
  • Users will not be notified if you've removed them from your watch.
  • You can remove yourself from someone else's watch is provided through the use of the block tool, which may be found in your Edit Settings page under the "Personal > General" section.
  • By placing a deviant's username on your Block list, they will be unable to add your account to their watch (or Friends) listing, and your account will be removed from this listing if it has already been added.
