How do I change my DeviantArt username?
Core Members can change their username once every six months as part of their membership benefits. To change your username, visit the Identity section of the Account Settings page and you can type in your desired username.
Username Limitations
There are limits on what you can change your username to, outlined in this list:
- Usernames must be between 3 and 20 characters long.
- Usernames can only contain letters (A-Z, a-z), numbers (0-9), and hyphens(-).
- Usernames cannot be solely numbers, start or end with a hyphen, or contain spaces.
- You can change the capitalization of your current username.
- You cannot use an existing username. This includes other accounts you own, deactivated accounts, inactive accounts, and usernames other deviants or groups previously had.
- You cannot change to a username you previously had.
- DeviantArt team members cannot change your username for you, even upon request.
After changing your username:
Your watchers will be notified of the change, and all of your pages will update to the new username. Existing links that contain your previous username will redirect to the new username, though in instances where deviants mentioned you in old comments, posts, or deviation descriptions, the mention will still show your previous username.
